EUSR - MATS approved course
Course introduction A 1 day theory and practical based course (9am - 5pm) aimed at working on roof tops in an area within an area of a fall potential. The morning covers all areas covered in the Rooftop awareness course
The course practical sessions are delivered on an outdoor training structure. So students are advised to bring with them appropriate clothing for the prevailing weather conditions.
Course approval This course is EUSR approved and is a prerequisite for working on any telecoms or Arqiva site
Certificate Validation This course is valid for 3 years.
Prerequisites Minimum age 18 and students must have an understanding of English. A fit for work declaration will need to be completed before start of course.
Course content
- Managing common hazards
- Assessing risk
- Using harnesses
- Using fall arrest lanyards
- Using fixed fall arrest and restraint systems
- Using work positioning lanyards or similar equipment
- Selecting appropriate anchor points
- Setting up and using temporary work restraint systems
- Working with edge protection systems
- Using additional fall protection equipment
- Consideration of emergencies and rescue arrangements
- Suspension syncope awareness
- Lifting and lowering kit
- Demonstrating climbing techniques on fixed ladders
Assessment procedure Ongoing practical assessment throughout the course and a written questions paper on completion of the course to gauge your understanding of the course content. Assistance will be given for those who may need it.
EUSR Registration
EUSR Registration is based on successful completion of an Energy & Utility Skills approved training programme and assessment delivered through a network of Energy & Utility Skills approved providers.The course fees includes registration for the EUSR Virtual and physical ID card.
EUSR registration for the Rooftop Worker scheme is for 3 years from the date of assessment.
