A 1 day course (9am - 5pm) aimed at the new worker to the either the construction industry or Telecoms industry. Looks at introducing the student to all the legislation, safe systems of work, basic harness appreciation and rooftop awareness.

- Industry standards and regulations
- Company policies and procedures
- Definitions of an unprotected and protected edges and safe working areas
- Personal preparedness
- Hazard recognition/mitigation
- Risk Assessments and method statements
- Exclusion zones and barriers
- Safety plans, Climbing plan/pre climb checklist
- Work Positioning, Work Restraint and Fall protection systems of work
- Engineered systems and regulatory requirement
- Equipment use, inspection, and maintenance
- Anchor selection and application
- Energy absorbers and lanyards
- Self retracting lifelines
- Vertical lifelines, Horizontal lifelines and fall arresting systems
- Ladder climbing systems. Permanent and temporary steps and Ladders
- Basic Knots, bends, hitches, Ropes
- Climbing, descending, and rooftop manoeuvring techniques
- Ascent and descent control
- Simple safe and current lifting techniques
- Work simulation at height
Certificate valid for 3 years. Minimum age 18 and students must have an understanding of English. A fit for work declaration will need to be completed before start of course.
